Happy Birthday and Anniversary Balloon Fiesta! #10

On Friday, April 8, 2022, it will be 50 years to the day from when the first group of 13 hot air balloons gathered at the west end of Coronado Center in Albuquerque in what would be the first Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The occasion was KOB Radio's 50th birthday. And an estimated 20,000 people turned out. This event led to the formation of World Balloon Championships that organized the First World's Hot Air Balloon Championship in 1973 at the NM State Fairgrounds. And if that first event didn't do it, hosting the Championships definitely put Albuquerque on the path to being the Hot Air Balloon Capital of the World.
