What's Up Wednesday June 4, 2025, #176

Ken Tuley ·

This week on What's Up Wednesday, it's all magnets, keychains and ornaments.

We've watched and shared with you the creation of these ever popular items. Now they are here and ready to adorn your keys, refrigerators and holiday trees.

There are six magnet designs to collect. There's one that looks like an event ticket, one that features the event Painted Horizons logo, one with three balloons hanging as charms, there's the stylized 2025 magnet,  one with a foil look, and a style, a spinner magnet with 6 special shape balloons spinning around the Balloon Fiesta logo.

There are three keychain designs. One that looks like a completed puzzle, one that has three charms and the third is the artist palette that is features on our official pins and represents the Painted Horizons theme.

There are four ornament designs for 2025. we have wreath, snowflakes and Christmas tree shapes as well as a scroll design.

Now for a little ballooning trivia. Tomorrow is Hot Air Balloon Day. It marks the anniversary of the first public demonstration of a hot air balloon. According to Encylopedia Brittanica, The Montgolfier Brothers made the first public demonstration of this lighter than air invention  on June 4, 1783, at the marketplace in Annonay. They filled their balloon with heated air by burning straw and wool under the opening at the bottom of the bag. The balloon rose into the air about 3,000 feet (1,000 metres), remained there some 10 minutes, and then settled to the ground more than a mile and a half from where it rose. To celebrate, take a balloon flight, crew for a flight, design your own hot air balloon, or just go watch Balloon Fiesta Live! and enjoy the original form of aviation.

Enjoy Hot Air Balloon Day, and thanks for your support of Balloon Fiesta and Balloon Fiesta Stuff!
