This year's Official Unsigned Metal Poster Print titled "Chirp409 Manifiesta" was designed and painted by local artist Travis Bruce Black.
Official metal prints are available in 9"x11" prints both signed and unsigned, and 20"x30" Official Serigraph Posters both signed and unsigned.
Travis Bruce Black is a full-time painter and muralist who has lived in Albuquerque since 2005. He came from Michigan for school and stayed, which locals will recognize as a classically New Mexican outcome (see: Land of Entrapment). He's been drawing dinosaurs since he was five years old. The subject matter hasn't changed as much as he'd like to admit. He just calls them roadrunners now.
His studio practice spans watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media across three primary series. The Chirp series is a body of more than 400 semi-abstracted bird paintings in watercolor and acrylic, ranging from intimate 5 by 5 inch works to paintings eight feet wide. User Interface draws from retro gaming culture, Lego, and the visual language of early personal computing, particularly the Commodore 64, to build voxel inspired work that asks the viewer's imagination to get involved. The series includes both large canvas paintings and inch-thick bas relief wood cutouts that look three-dimensional until you get close enough to discover they aren't. Life Arrangement is looser and more lyrical, a watercolor-based series where birds, wildlife, insects, and plant life are free to veer into abstraction, exaggeration, or outright fantasy. All three series are doing different things but they come from the same place, a painter who finds the same satisfaction in a hard edge as in a brushstroke that goes somewhere unexpected.
Black's work is held in public collections throughout Albuquerque and New Mexico, including Albuquerque City Hall, the Albuquerque Convention Center, UNM Hospital, and the National Guard Readiness Center. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Fine Art in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. His imagery has appeared on couture dresses with Indian fashion house Gauri and Nainika, worn publicly by Kerry Washington, Debra Messing, and Carrie Underwood.
His large-scale mural and public art work has become increasingly central to his practice. In 2018 he completed the Tree of Life, an 8 by 4 foot memorial sculpture commissioned by the nonprofit Albuquerque Heading Home. In 2025 he completed "Mother: Moment," a 6,000 square foot collaborative mural with muralist Noé Barnett on the east wall of the UNM Arts Lab building at University and Central in Nob Hill, with creative direction from Meow Wolf and oversight from the City of Albuquerque and the University of New Mexico as part of the Route 66 Remixed project. The mural merges Barnett's figurative realism with Black's signature voxel style and has become one of the most-visited installations along the Route 66 Centennial corridor.
