This week on What's Up Wednesday, it's all about Balloon Glow™.
You may notice something new on this year's Balloon Glow™ logo—a little ™ tucked next to the name. It's a new trademark, a small detail with a simple purpose: it lets everyone know that Balloon Glow™ is part of our event's unique identity and brand. It's one more way we're making Balloon Glow™ stand out and be easily recognized as part of Balloon Fiesta® for years to come.
And what better way to celebrate than with a brand-new collection inspired by one of Balloon Fiesta's most beloved traditions? To mark the occasion, we're releasing a new line of Balloon Glow™ merchandise today.
First up is a navy Spirit Jersey. It sparkles and proudly displays the new Balloon Glow™ logo on the front left chest. The back features a large Balloon Fiesta® design with balloons that glow in the dark. This is the latest collaboration with the Spirit Jersey team and their iconic, fan-favorite clothing line.
The new Balloon Glow™ design, featuring a patchwork balloon above the words "Balloon Glow" in an outline font, is also available as this year's official pin and patch. Be among the first to add this new Balloon Glow™ pin, patch, and Spirit Jersey to your collection.
BTW, balloon glows are some of the most popular sessions at Balloon Fiesta®. While the concept of balloons lighting up the night can be traced back to 1979, it wasn't until 1987 that Albuquerque officially added a Balloon Glow™ to the schedule. Yours truly was on the field for that first event, and thinking about the first all-burn still gives me shivers of excitement. Over the years, that Saturday night tradition has expanded to include two additional Balloon Glows™ featuring regular-shaped balloons, along with two evenings dedicated exclusively to the special-shaped balloons. Those nighttime spectaculars are known as Glowdeos™.
Also arriving today are six new magnets celebrating The Scenic Route and the 54th Balloon Fiesta®. Choose from the Event magnet, the Year magnet, the Bumper Sticker magnet, a Route 66 birthday cake design celebrating the highway's 100th anniversary, the two-sided foil magnet, and our new slider magnet.
Still to come this month: Christmas in July, new ornaments, special pricing on last year's merchandise, and even a special gift.
