What's Up Wednesday, May 6, 2026 #224

Ken Tuley ·

This week on What’s Up Wednesday: it’s Pin of the Month, a few more 2026 event pins to go with it, and yes… It’s account upgrade time.

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, which means a new Pin of the Month. May’s pin is number 7 in our 12-pin series, and it’s all about flowers—an entire bouquet arranged in the shape of a hot air balloon, floating in a bright blue sky, with blooms on the ground in full color as well. If you’re building the full set, there’s still time to catch up—previous Pins of the Month are still available while supplies last. And don’t forget the calendar shadow box, designed specifically to display the complete 12-pin collection.

And with a new release comes another Pin Trading and Shopping Day this Saturday at the Balloon Fiesta Office and Gift Shop, 4401 Alameda Blvd NE in Albuquerque. From 9 to noon, you can shop, pick up previously placed orders, grab a new one of our special grab bags—filled with pins that haven’t been available for sale—and of course, take part in pin trading. This Saturday is also the next-to-last trading day of the season. June will be your final opportunity until Balloon Fiesta pin trading days return during the event in October—so it’s a great time to fill in any gaps in your collection.

If you’ve never joined us for a trading day, here’s how it works: we’ll have trading boards set up. You add a pin, you take a pin. Just make sure what you bring is of “tradable” quality—we want to keep the experience fun and worthwhile for everyone. You’re also welcome to trade directly with other collectors—just no selling. And those grab bags? They’re a great way to jump-start your trading collection.

The Pin of the Month isn’t the only release today. We’re also introducing three new event pins: Night Magic, Splash & Dash, and the Drone Show pin. Night Magic gives a nod to the neon glow of classic Route 66, the Drone Show pin highlights the iconic Route 66 sign, and Splash & Dash captures three balloons skimming the water with a kayaker nearby. All three of these pins are pin-on-pin, providing an extra layer of detail. And the Drone Show pin-it glows in the dark!

And finally, a quick heads-up: we’re now just two days away from our account upgrade. On May 8, Balloon Fiesta Stuff moves from our legacy login system to Shopify’s newer, more streamlined, and secure experience.

There’s nothing you need to do. After the upgrade, you’ll sign in using your email, and we’ll send you a secure one-time code—no passwords, no lockouts, no resets. It’s the same sign-in process you’re already using on many other websites. Everything in your account stays exactly where you expect it—order history, saved addresses, all of it. We’ve been working behind the scenes to make this transition smooth, and we’re excited for you to experience the new sign-in.

Thanks, as always, for your support of Balloon Fiesta and Balloon Fiesta Stuff. We hope to see you Saturday—and we’ll see you right back here next week for What’s Up Wednesday.
